Have you ever considered using heirloom dishes to decorate your home?  There is no need to keep them stored in the cupboard or in a box in a closet. They’re special to you – show them off!

How to Do It Yourself

  1. Pick 3 to 5 different-sized plates. Make your selections based on colors and patterns that complement one another and your room’s existing décor.
  2. Hanging them in a grouping is a fun look – try out the arrangement on the floor before actually hanging.
  3. When you’re ready, hang them on the wall with plate hangers (available at your local hardware store).

Tip
Don’t be afraid to hang plates in atypical locations (outside the kitchen/dining room), or mix the plates with other hanging art.

Using heirloom plates in your décor can also enhance your space from a Feng Shui perspective. The round shapes bring balance. Also, hanging them is a nice way to honor your ancestry, and can even evoke happy memories of the relatives they belonged to.
