Use Heirloom Dishes in Your Decor

Have you ever considered using heirloom dishes to decorate your home? There is no need to keep them stored in the cupboard or in a box in a closet. They’re special to you – show them off!
How to Do It Yourself
- Pick 3 to 5 different-sized plates. Make your selections based on colors and patterns that complement one another and your room’s existing décor.
- Hanging them in a grouping is a fun look – try out the arrangement on the floor before actually hanging.
- When you’re ready, hang them on the wall with plate hangers (available at your local hardware store).
Tip
Don’t be afraid to hang plates in atypical locations (outside the kitchen/dining room), or mix the plates with other hanging art.
Using heirloom plates in your décor can also enhance your space from a Feng Shui perspective. The round shapes bring balance. Also, hanging them is a nice way to honor your ancestry, and can even evoke happy memories of the relatives they belonged to.
