Nancy Meyer and Matthew Foli

I have known Julie Ann since 2018, first as a client and then as my husband, Matthew Foli, and I hired her as our Feng Shui Interior Designer in 2022. Over this time, we have also become friends.

Julie Ann helped transform our two entryways. We picked wall coverings and paint colors to complement each other and rearranged our den and living rooms.

What I love about working with Julie Ann:

  • She is generous in sharing her expertise. I loved brainstorming and exploring options with her.
  • She knows colors and patterns; what goes together and what doesn’t.
  • She is conscientious and uses what you have. Plus, she offers suggestions and adds ideas that can complement your other furniture—a seasoned designer who circles herself with conscientious contractors. We loved the attention to detail, and the joy of witnessing people enjoy working together. These contractors hung our wall coverings and painted the two entryways. They brought good chi to the house.
  • She is a teacher who showed us how to implement the Feng Shui Bagua to attract abundance in our home. The eight principles in the Bagua map include love and marriage, spiritual growth, creativity, fame, health, helpful people, career, and money. Our house is filled with loving kindness and balanced energies.
  • She is super organized, has clear agreements, and is on top of all the details. You don’t have to worry about keeping track of everything. Julie Ann has tracked everything and is clear about your financial investment and where the money goes.
  • A joy to work with, and any conflict that surfaced, she found a workable solution for both parties.
  • The project went so well that we will continue working with Julie Ann as we transform our kitchen and living room.
Above all else, I highly recommend hiring Julie Ann as your Feng Shui Interior Designer!

Working on the 3rd floor’s theme (of the Nokomis Square Cooperative Art Gallery) was probably the most difficult to arrange conceptually. We spent individual time and many group meetings in an attempt to ‘cluster’ sub-themes that would reflect the general theme. Our approved budget was substantial so our deliberations took longer as we re-arranged our groupings to reflect our budget priorities. But perseverance paid off… we received more positive residents’ comments on 3rd floor art than any other completed installations.
“In a nutshell”…..WE LOVE JULIE ANN!
It quickly became obvious to the members of Design Enhancement Working Group (DEWG), during our interview with Julie Ann in 2016, that she significantly “raised the bar” over the other five (5) firms that were interviewed during this time. Aside from her impressive credentials, her immediate excitement for the project, her past experiences working with folks who reported to Boards, her infectious “Joie de vie” for art and design, and her communication style made it a “no-brainer” for us to award the contract to Metro Interiors, as she committed to work with us for the next seven or eight years.
In the following years (2016-2021) her commitment has always been steadfast. Her ability to be flexible in relation to our budgets, her patience, her laughter with/at us, her artistic guidance throughout hours of selection processes, has been, and continues to be, beyond invaluable. Julie’s generosity over these years has been a catalyst for DEWG members and Metro Interiors staff to become, professionally and personally, a bonded network.

What can I say about Julie Segal and Metro Interiors. Well, if she were an athlete, she would be a hands down first round draft pick and a shoe in to make the Hall of Fame. I have known her for 30+ years, from the time she became an Interior Designer and I finally had a home remodel project that I needed her top notch skills and expertise for.

I purchased a new home in October 2020 during The Pandemic and had a vision for the space I wanted to have for my sons and me. I did not consider for one moment interviewing a few designers. Julie and Metro Interiors was my pick to be the quarterback for the project. She has handled the entire project and EVERY detail so beautifully and taught me patience as we near the end of the remodel. The general contractor, plumbing, cabinets, furniture, artwork, painting, every detail she has coordinated perfectly and professionally.

I would recommend her to anyone wanting to remodel their home, no matter the size of the project. Big or small, she can handle it. You just relax and let her guide you. She does it so well.

5 Reasons to Hire an Interior Designer

1

You're not sure what you want

Designers make things easy by helping you identify your style, guiding you through current innovations and trends, and pulling the elements of your room together for you. The technology they have at-hand for creating to-scale floor plans and drawings makes it easy for you to see variations on your room's design.

2

You know what you like, but have little design experience

You might have a knack for some things, but some you might not have a clue on how to start. Avoid letting your inexperience lead to frustrating or costly mistakes, or a DIY project that gets out of control.

3

You don't have time

If your project has a deadline, you're better off turning it over to a professional. Most end up taking longer than you think. With your vision in mind, designers can find what you are looking for quicker. They have knowledge and readily-available sources. They're also experts at project management, and can keep things on track, coordinating with vendors and contractors so you don't have to.

4

You're stressed

If you've just moved in, are preparing to sell, recently married, going through a divorce, or downsizing, chances are there's something the house needs. Transitions, stressful enough, are often times when homes need attention. Taking the job of a home update off your plate could give you some breathing space. Delegate projects. Placing them in the hands of a trustworthy professional will ease stress.

5

You need to stay within a budget

Interior designers understand budgets, and are able to help you find the best prices and make cost- cutting recommendations if need be. They've done the research, legwork and networking on your behalf. Hiring an interior designer, you'll get his or her design expertise, vast collection of resources, and project management experience. Redesigning your home can be an enjoyable process when you place your trust in a seasoned professional, and you'll end up with a fresh new look to fall in love with!
