Choosing the Right Granite

Adding an element of granite to your home? How do you know what granite will work best in your space?

When selecting granite, take a look at the space it will be going into, and what colors you would like to highlight in it.  In the kitchen of this newly built home, the cabinetry is a classic cherry wood, but what gives it this rich plum color is the stain – Sherwin Williams Plum Mahogany.

The paint that was chosen is also an on-trend Sherwin Williams color called Anonymous.  Based on consideration of those two elements, along with the backsplash of Indian Multicolor slate tile, the choice for granite was made:  “Crema Astoria”.

You can see the elements of grey, plum, wine, and cream running through the granite.

Since this particular granite doesn’t have much movement (doesn’t feel busy), it stands out in the kitchen and doesn’t take away from the cabinetry.  The homeowners wanted it to feel cohesive. It fits perfectly in the space and adds to the feel of flow in the room.
