5 Inspiring Reasons to Hire an Interior Designer for Your Next Project… Plus, 3 Myths Busted!

Posted in Interior Design on May 3, 2022

Have you thought about redecorating your space? Maybe a bunch of little projects has added up to an overwhelming overhaul. Or maybe you just really want to add some pizzaz, like plants, pillows, a new wash of color on the walls. But you don’t know where, or how, to begin. This is the time to consider hiring a professional Interior Designer. Here are 5 reasons to take that step, along with 3 myths that I’m going to bust so that you can have peace of mind when you put your design dreams in the hands of an Interior Designer and make them a reality. This is how you change your space to change your life!

  1. You’re not sure what you want
Designers make things easy by helping you identify your style, guiding you through current innovations and trends, and pulling the elements of your room together for you. Any good designer will narrow down your best choices, and present you with options. The technology they have at hand for creating to-scale floor plans and drawings makes it easy for you to see variations in your room’s design.
  2. You know what you like, but have little experience
You might have a knack for some things, like color combinations, but a whole room or home makeover leaves you scratching your head. At the end of the design process, I often hear clients so impressed, remarking that they couldn’t have done it themselves. That’s what we’re here for—Interior Designers are trained at listening, getting to know you, and then creating a design that’s perfect for YOU. We will work together to get the project right, and you will have access to my connections to wonderful tradespeople, and plenty of customization.
  3. You don’t have time
If you have a project with a deadline, you might be better off turning it over to a professional. Most projects end up taking longer, and interior designers have the resources to stay on track. This can also help you avoid time-wasting mistakes. Even if you are not on deadline, interior designers make excellent project managers to keep things moving along.
  4. You’re stressed
If you’ve just moved in, are preparing to sell, are recently married, going through a divorce, or downsizing, chances are there’s something the house needs. Transitions, stressful enough, are often times when homes need attention. Taking the job of a home update off your plate could give you some breathing space. Placing projects in the hands of a trustworthy professional will ease stress.
  5. You need to stay within a budget
Interior Designers understand budgets and are able to help you find the best prices and make cost-cutting recommendations if need be. They’ve done the research, legwork, and networking on your behalf. And the experience they bring to the project can prevent costly mistakes.

Now on to the myth-busting!

Myth #1: Hiring an Interior Designer is too expensive.
Fact:  It may cost less than you think. When tackling design projects themselves, many people find they get way off track with their spending, and find at the end of the project that it’s cost them double what they thought it would. Any Interior Designer is skilled at working within a budget and giving clients options at different price points, so you can stay on track and feel comfortable along the way. Hiring an Interior Designer can save you from making costly mistakes too. With a skilled design eye, a designer will help you make choices you can feel good about, so you’re not paying shipping charges and return delivery fees for something you don’t end up liking, or having to re-paint for a color that’s all wrong.

Myth #2: It won’t be that hard.
Fact:  Most projects are more work than you think. And when it’s something new to you, frustration and stress can escalate with each challenge. Also, if your project involves multiple design details, or hiring outside labor, there is a lot of coordination involved. The details of the “behind the scenes” work that an interior designer put in are often not known to the client, but they do take notice that the process has gone smoothly, and are excited to see how everything comes together beautifully.

Myth #3: This project won’t take that long.
Fact:  Most projects take longer than you think, especially if it is something you don’t have experience with. This is even more true when you can’t find what you’re looking for. Pretty soon your entire Saturday is eaten up by running around town comparing products and pricing. And you’re exhausted. Interior Designers can find what you are looking for much quicker, because of their knowledge and readily-available resources. If you want to save your evenings, weekends, and vacation time for much-needed R & R, delegate the search and the legwork to the pros.

Choosing to work with an Interior Designer can save you time, be less stressful, and cost less than you may imagine. Feng Shui, remodeling, and redecorating can be intimidating, but I strive to make the process FUN! Consider working with me on your next project. Email me here !
