Keys to Positive First Impressions in Commercial Design: Lighting

Posted in Commercial Design, Interior Design, Lighting on May 16, 2017

Do you want renters?

First impressions of a building and its amenities have a big impact on whether people decide to rent from you or not.

People are attracted to buildings that not only look good, but feel good too. This is especially important when there’s a long-term decision involved, such as committing to a place to live by signing a lease.

When lobbies, party rooms, and other common areas convey a feeling of warmth, people will naturally be attracted to them, and want to linger.

KEY # 1: LIGHTING

Lighting is key to first impressions because it enhances both the functionality and experience within a room.

In this Party Room at Como Park Apartments, several different types of lighting work to make the space feel bright and inviting. Before our redesign, it was dark and dated.

  • Recessed lighting floods the room with light, making it feel bright and open.
  • Pendant lights over the bar area add a pop of color and visual interest, while providing task lighting.
  • Wall sconces cast a warm glow, as well as pointing light upwards to lift the energy of the space.
  • Floor lamps placed strategically add function to certain areas, as well as adding to the ambiance of the room.

With thoughtful design, this commercial space is sure to leave a lasting impression.
